Description
Air-dry your clothes. Set up a clothesline or drying rack to hang wet clothes from the washer, either indoors or outdoors rather than using the clothes dryer.Tags

Assumptions We Made
Assume you already have a place to hang clothes for air drying. Dryer load takes one hour. Few sources list dryer electricity consumption. The few that give any information, the amount is about the 3 kWh/cycle (when derived from kWh/year or $/cycle information). used the 392 cycles per year (same as used for washing cycles), but then added a frequency of air drying. That is highly uncertain and dependent on location (e.g., doubtful I would air dry clothes in winter in Pgh).Impacts
Initial Impacts
Each time you carry out this action, the immediate impacts are:
- Saves 0.30 dollars
- Saves 3.00 kilowatt hours
- Saves 4.08 lbs of CO2
Ongoing Impacts
Some actions also have additional impact over time. For this action, these are:
- Unknown
Potential Annual Impact
We assume that this action will be carried out weekly (about 52 times a year). In this case, in a year you could save:- 15.39 dollars
- 156.00 kilowatt hours
- 212.16 lbs of CO2
