Monitor the length of your showers and reduce the time by 1 minute.

Description
Monitor the length of your showers and reduce the time by 1 minute. Do you really know if you take a 5, or a 10, or a 20 minute shower? Note the actual time you spend in the shower on average and try to shave off 10% of it (so, 1 minute off a 10 minute shower). Remember to include the time when the water is running before you actually get in the shower, too. Shaving time off your shower reduces the amount of hot water consumed and the energy needed to replenish the hot water in a water heater tank.Tags

Assumptions We Made
Assumes an original 10 minute shower now reduced by 1 minute, 1 shower per day, every day, water heater on high temp (140), and a 2 gallon/minute showerhead flow - thus 2 gal of water avoiding being heated each day. Energy from water heater spreadsheet.Impacts
Initial Impacts
Each time you carry out this action, the immediate impacts are:
- Saves 0.06 dollars
- Saves 0.59 kilowatt hours
- Saves 0.80 lbs of CO2
Ongoing Impacts
Some actions also have additional impact over time. For this action, these are:
- Unknown
Potential Annual Impact
We assume that this action will be carried out daily (about 160 times a year). In this case, in a year you could save:- 9.19 dollars
- 94.24 kilowatt hours
- 128.08 lbs of CO2
