Description

If a printer is used rarely, turn it off, or even unplug it, when you are not printing something. This is especially important for printers that have a lighted display that is lit when the printer is idle, as the light is consuming electricity.

Assumptions We Made

Assume printer is originally always "on" (3W) for 24 hours in a day, and that it is actually printing 1 hour each day. Now, printer is "off" (0 W) for 23 hours of the day, and "on" and printing 1 hour each day. http://www.psnh.com/Residential/ReduceBill/ApplianceUsage.asp; http://www.energyrating.gov.au/library/pubs/sb200303-printers.pdf
